ALUMAR REFINARY AND JURUTI MINING EXPANSION PROJECTS
Alumar is one of the world’s largest primary aluminum and alumina production complexes. In the refinery, the bauxite received in the Port of Alumar is refined and transformed into alumina, the raw material for aluminum. Current production is 3.5 million tons. Alumina is an important raw material for the ceramic, glass, medical and cosmetic industries.
In Juruti, in the west of Pará state, the unit is dedicated to the mining and primary beneficiation of bauxite, and has a reserve of approximately 780 million metric tons of ore, one of the largest deposits of bauxite in the world, providing for high quality ore.
